Learn-A-Word Wednesday: amanuensis \uh-man-yoo-EN-sis\
noun:
A person employed to take dictation or to copy manuscripts.
Amanuensis comes from Latin, from the phrase (servus) a manu, “slave with handwriting duties,” from a, ab, “by” + manu, from manus, “hand.”
Slave with handwriting duties. LOL - that must have been quite an achievement as most slaves weren't taught to read or write. It must have been quite a jobtitle
HAHA It seems as it is still used as a jobtitle
Some very famous people had amanuensis's
There is even a website
