Think about your favorite authors, your favorite books . . . what is it about them that makes you love them above all the other authors you’ve read? The stories? The characters? The way they appear to relish the taste of words on the tongue? The way they’re unafraid to show the nitty-gritty of life? How they sweep you off to a new, distant place? What is it about those books and authors that makes them resonate with you in ways that other, perfectly good books and authors do not?
Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!
Yoh- that's quite a mouthfull- I love Anne Tyler books cause they are so real! And the people face crises in their live like we all do- by ignoring them, hoping they go away, fighting with their loved ones, walking out- and then eventually facing them and coming up with a solution.
As I get more older- and hopefully a bit wiser- I enjoy characters that has a bit of humility about them- because it is sometimes only with other peoples grace that we learn, live and hope as much as we do.

I have read only one Anne Tyler and would like to explore more of her!
Here is my BTT post
I've never heard of Anne Tyler, but I agree with you that characters with a certain humility are characters you feel more sympathy and concern for.
